From the Thresholds was composed 2020, inspired by the poetry of Paul Celan.
The music responds to the interplay of stark simplicity and emotional depth found in Celan's poetry, the boundaries of which are explored by translating the song-like cello line into the piano as cold monoliths of harmony.
