Reveille

Reveille was composed 2021, and revised 2023.

Inspired by Bach's Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme BWV 645, the piece acts both as an awakening call and as a lilting, but comfortless, lullaby. It imagines the usual bugler's reveille as a more pensive and ambiguous thing, as the organist rouses those nearby with music that is expectant, questioning, and full of possibility.
